Providing financial planning services to over 3.5 million customers by connecting their ability to view account and transactional information which bring invaluable insights from their banking data


The challenge

A Hang Seng customer wants to authorise a third-party to view their Hang Seng accounts and transactional information. A third-party can then aggregate and analyse their account information and give them a holistic view on their current financial standing. But they are uncomfortable with the concept of sharing their Hang Seng log on credentials to do so.


The solution

Using Hang Seng’s Account Information API, the third-party provider can integrate Hang Seng accounts and transactional data into their application for all their customers to use. Customers wanting to add Hang Seng accounts will consent via a redirect which allows them to authenticate their ID directly with Hang Seng. Hang Seng will pass the authenticated customer back to the third party, who can then access their relevant data for an agreed period (e.g. 90 days).
